Great Expectations

Little Pip lived in a small, quiet house near the wide, misty marsh. One cold evening, while he was walking near the church, he met a very scary stranger. The man was hungry and began to shiver in the freezing wind. Pip felt sad for him. He decided to show true kindness by bringing him some yummy bread and a metal tool to help him. They promised to keep this a big secret forever. Pip was brave even though he was small.

Many years passed. Pip was invited to a giant, dusty mansion called Satis House. Inside, he met a girl named Estella and a lady in a white dress. Pip began to dream of a fancy life. He wanted to become a polite gentleman with shiny shoes and smart clothes. One day, a lawyer arrived with amazing news. A mysterious person wanted to give Pip a lot of money to move to the big city of London. Pip was going to be wealthy and famous!

In London, Pip learned how to read many books and wear fine hats. He had a lot of gold, but he sometimes felt lonely. He soon discovered the biggest surprise of all! The poor man he helped at the marsh so many years ago was the one who sent the money to help him. Pip realized that being rich on the outside is not as good as having a kind heart on the inside. He learned that being a true, loyal friend is the best treasure in the whole world. He went home to say thank you to his family.
